What's Your Meeting Role Type?
What role do you naturally play in meetings or group projects? Answer 15 quick questions to find your role type and the strength you bring, in 4 minutes.
About this test
Whether it's a meeting room or a group-project chat, everyone naturally takes on a role when people work together. A team runs best when it has someone who throws out new ideas, someone who turns scattered talk into to-dos, someone who asks about the gaps, someone who lightens the mood, and someone who keeps an eye on the clock.
This test looks at what you often do in meetings and team projects, through 15 questions. Students can answer by thinking about group assignments, too. Answer each one from "Strongly disagree" to "Strongly agree," and you'll get the type with the highest score out of five. If two types score closely, you'll see both.
Your result shows whether you're an Idea Spark, a Note Keeper, a Question Detective, a Mood Maker, or a Time Keeper, the strength of your role, and small tips to shine even more on your team. Try it with your teammates and see which roles your team has plenty of, and which it's missing.
Possible Results
The Idea Spark
You're the first to throw new ideas on the table. Whether it's a meeting or a group project, the conversation starts with you. Decide who will carry each idea forward, and it'll go even further.
The Note Keeper
You turn scattered talk into clear to-dos. When someone asks "So what did we decide?" after a meeting, you're the one with the answer. Just don't let note-taking keep you from sharing your own opinion.
The Question Detective
With a simple "Why is that?", you find the gaps in any plan. When everyone else moves on, you take one more look and save the team from mistakes. Pair each question with one alternative, and your input becomes even more powerful.
The Mood Maker
You're the one who gets quiet people talking. By easing stiff moods and bridging clashing opinions, you create meetings where everyone feels comfortable joining in. Now and then, state your own view clearly too.
The Time Keeper
You make sure meetings end on time. With a simple "Shall we decide now?", you wrap up circular discussions and save everyone's time. Even when you're moving fast, leave room for others to finish their thoughts.
